Smart Design Working System “cocoma”

As collaboration between various occupations becomes more and more important, many companies are using collaboration support systems. However, these existing systems are centered around specific occupations, sometimes making them not as effective as they could be.

As part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s project to strengthen competency of professional design companies, FRUM planned a smart design working system that enabled designers to collaborate creatively with people in other roles, and carried out the entire process from design to development. Using desk research and user research, Communication, Collaboration, and Management were identified as core concepts.

To achieve a user-centered UX design, five core functions were developed with the primary goal of supporting effective collaboration between designers and professionals from other backgrounds. With a WYSIWYG-based Kanban board as the main format for process and prioritization, we developed image annotation for visual communication and intuitive image and file version management functions. In addition, we made effective project management possible with a template function that creates a methodology out of existing project success cases, as well as a visual analysis of current progress. In addition, to improve usability according to the level of system adaptation, we developed functions for convenience such as the intuitive correction of entered information, help function, and shortcut keys.

From HTML5 web socket-based development for real-time support for several users to real-time reflection support for all users when changing content, etc., FRUM is continuously improving its systems so that design companies, designers and professionals from other backgrounds can smoothly collaborate and create a synergy effect accordingly.
